Setting Project Start and End Dates on a Project Timeline

This article explains how to set project start date and end date on a project timeline.

Overview

If you have a long-running project without an end date and do not use releases in your project tree, use the planned start and planned end dates on projects to drive the timeline display.

Once you have established dates on your project, if those dates become incorrect or no longer valid, you can safely change the project dates as needed. There will be no negative impacts to reporting, scorecards, or dashboards.

How To

  1. Click the hamburger icon Hamburger icon > Portfolio > Project Timeline
  2. Select a project from the Project Navigator.
  3. Click on the ID of a project for which you want to set start and end dates. The Details page opens for the selected project.
  4. Click Edit, then click on the Begin Date field. A pop-up calendar opens for you to select a start date for the project. Do the same for the End Date field.
  5. Click Save.

Note: The dates you have entered override any dates inherited from the master project.
