Generating a Backlog Item from an Issue

This article explains how to generate a Backlog Item from an Issue.

Overview

Follow these steps to generate a new story or backlog item from an existing issue and associate a work item.

  • Generating a story from an issue establishes a new relationship between the items.
  • You can generate multiple stories for each issue.

Steps

  1. Click the hamburger menu Hamburger icon and choose one of the following:

    • Product > Input > Issues
    • Team > Sprint Planning > Issues
    • Team > Sprint Tracking > Issues
  2. Locate an issue, and then choose Generate Story (or Generate Backlog Item) from the Edit menu.

  3. In the Backlog Item window, make the necessary changes and click Save.

  4. The new story is added to the bottom of the Backlog grid with a unique ID beginning with "S".
