Using the Backlog Item Planner to Add Tasks and Tests to a Backlog Item

This article explains how to use the backlog item planner to add tasks and test to a backlog item.

Overview

The Backlog Item Planner is most helpful during sprint planning, as it allows the team to focus in on one backlog item item or backlog item at a time and fully define its details. Here, you can also add, edit, and prioritize tasks and acceptance tests for the backlog item by dragging and dropping them to the appropriate location.

Steps

  1. Click the hamburger menu Hamburger icon > Sprint > Detail Planning.
  2. In the Backlog Items grid, to the right of a backlog item, click Plan Backlog Item.
  3. In the Backlog Item Planner window, click Add Task or Add Test from the Add Task drop-down.
  4. Enter the details, and then click Save to return to the Story Planner window.

Close the Story Planner window to return to the Detail Planning page.
