Screen Capture - Videos and Screenshots

The Screen Capture feature lets you capture both screenshots and videos of mobile device activity. You can download these to your computer.

Screenshots

To capture a screenshot:

1. In Mobile Studio click the Screen Capture button.
   

2. Click Take screenshot.

Do not refresh the web browser. Otherwise the screenshots are lost.

Screenshot Actions

You can perform these actions on the captured screenshots:

• Delete
• Download

Delete

To delete a screenshot:

1. Hover over the screenshot.
2. Click the Trash icon.

To delete all screenshots, click Clear All.

Download

To download a screenshot:

1. Hover over the screenshot.
2. Click the blue button with the download icon.

To download all screenshots, click Download All. This downloads all screenshots as a single zip file.

Keyboard Shortcut

You can use a keyboard shortcut to take a screenshot. The shortcut depends on the OS: 

• Windows: Ctrl+Alt+s
• Mac: command+option+s 

To use a keyboard shortcut to take a screenshot:

1. Open Mobile Studio
2. Use the applicable shortcut.

These shortcuts work even if the dialog is closed.
When dialog is closed and you capture a screenshot with keyboard shortcut, a red dot appears on the button which signifies new screenshots are available. The dot disappears when you open the dialog.

The Keyboard shortcut won't work if the mobile studio is in accessibility testing mode.

Screen Video Recording

Screen Video Recording gives you the ability to record actions on the device and save on computer. These recordings can be useful for validating test results. For example, you can make sure that the correct dialog opens when clicking on a button. You can also correlate errors with screenshots to narrow down the problem in your code.

Create a New Video Record

1. Open the Video Record dialog window.

2. Click Videos.
   !

3. Click Record Video.
   

4. When finished, click Stop.
        

After recording, you see a list of videos.

You can see the length of the video and when it was recorded.

To download the video on to your computer, hover over the video, then click the Download button.

To delete a video, hover over it, then click the Trash icon.

To delete all videos, click Clear All.
