Prerequisites for Delivery Insights

release-pro-label-only

This guide will show you how to set up the Release with Delivery Insights service. After following these steps, you'll have a fully functioning instance of Digital.ai Release with Delivery Insights.

Prerequisites

The Release with Delivery Insights service works with and collects data from various tools to generate rich insights into what's flowing through your software delivery value stream.

  • Work Item tracking tools—JIRA and Agility
  • SCM tools—GitHub, GitLab, and BitBucket

For illustrative purposes, this topic deals only with JIRA and GitHub as the Work Item tracking and SCM tools respectively.

You need the following to set up the Release with Delivery Insights service:

  • Digital.ai Release 22.0 or later
  • Delivery Insights plug-in
  • Your credentials to connect to the Delivery Insights, JIRA, and GitHub servers

Before you begin, gather the following data and keep them handy:

JIRA Credentials

You will connect to the JIRA server via Digital.ai Platform.

  • JIRA server's URL—for example, https://yourcompany.atlassian.net/
  • JIRA username
  • JIRA API token (required only if the Atlassian projects you use do not allow anonymous access)

Important: You can also use Agility instead of JIRA as a Work Item tracking tool.

GitHub Credentials

You will connect to the GitHub server via Digital.ai Platform.

  • GitHub API URL—for example, https://api.github.com
  • GitHub personal access token (required permission is Repository permissions > content > read-only)

Delivery Insights Credentials

You will connect to the Delivery insights server via Digital.ai Release.

  • Delivery Insights uses the Digital.ai Platform's API URL—for example, https://api.us.digital.ai
  • Delivery Insights server API token
  • Contact Digital.ai Support to get the Delivery Insights server credentials. If you don't have a Digital.ai platform account, raise a ticket to contact Digital.ai support and you will get the access to your platform account. Once you have it, you can generate your API Token by logging into your platform account.
