Format Panel for Network Visualizations

Once you create a network visualization, you can customize its display, such as the font size for node labels, or whether to display an animation when switching between node layout styles.

Access

  1. Open an existing dossier that contains the network visualization you want to format.
  2. Select the network visualization in the dossier.
  3. In the left toolbar, click Format.

Fields

  • Select the area of the visualization you want to format from the first drop-down list.

Data Exploration

The Data Exploration options include formatting node labels, node edges, the display theme for the visualization, etc.

Show Edge Direction: Display edges as arrows to show the node at which each edge starts and ends.

Animate Layout Transition: Shows an animation when you change the layout style used to display nodes.

Item Size Aggregation: Select the function used to aggregate the metric values, which are used to determine the size of the nodes.

Item Max Size: Select Automatic to allow Digital.ai Intelligence Applications to automatically size the nodes to optimize the visualization's display. Select Manual to manually select the size of nodes and enter the maximum size of the nodes as a ratio between .01 and 1.

Item Min Size: This field appears when there is a metric in the Size By area of the Editor panel. This field determines the minimum size of the nodes. Select Proportional to allow Digital.ai Intelligence Applications to determine the minimum node size in proportion to the maximum node size. Select Full Range to make the smallest node size fixed, independent of its value. Select Adjusted Range to make the size of the smallest node proportional to the size of the largest node.

To display the smallest value using a node 20 percent of the size of the largest node, enter .2.

Item Formatting

Specify shapes and colors for nodes. Select the nodes to format (for example, From and To Items, From Items, or To Items) from the first drop-down list.

Shape: Select the default shape to use (for example, circle, square, ring, etc.). The default shape is a circle.

Fill: Select the background color of the shapes from the palette. In the Percent field, type the opacity of the background as a percentage. Higher values are more opaque.

Border: Select the color and style of the shape's borders.

Data Labels

Show Data Labels: Select to display descriptive labels for the nodes.

Font: Select font formatting options.

More Options: Click to define additional formatting options, such as how to display the attribute form names and how null and zero metric values are hidden.

Title and Container

The following options are available to format the title, background, and borders in a visualization:

Title

Show titlebar: Select the checkbox to display the visualization's title.

Font: Select font formatting options.

Container

Fill Color: Select the background color of the visualization from the palette.

Outer Border: Select the style and color of the visualization's borders from the drop-down lists.

Legend

The legend displays information on node size, edge size, edge color, etc. It appears when you add a metric to the Edge Color, Edge Size, or Item Size areas of the Editor panel. These formatting options are available is your visualization contains a legend.

Show Legend: Select this checkbox to display the legend.

Text: Select font formatting options.

Fill: Select the background color from the palette. In the Percent field, type the opacity of the background as a percentage. Higher values are more opaque.
