Advanced Sort Dialog
You can sort data in a grid based on multiple dataset objects at the same time, using the Advanced Sort dialog.
Access
To access the Advanced Sort dialog:
- Select a grid visualization.
- In the Editor panel, right-click the attribute or metric to sort and choose Advanced Sort.
Fields
Order: The sort order of the row or column.
Sort by: Select the attribute or metric to sort from the first drop-down. Select whether to sort in Ascending or Descending order in the second drop-down. Select the X icon next to an object to delete it.
Rows: Click this button to specify advanced sort options for rows.
Columns: Click this button to specify advanced sort options for columns.
Sort metrics hierarchically: This option is only available if you are sorting a report that contains hierarchical attributes. Select this checkbox to sort metric values hierarchically. Hierarchical sorting, or multiple-key sorting, sorts data according to multiple sorting criteria in a hierarchical manner. This means that the first criterion is the initial basis for sorting. Any ties are resolved using the second criterion, any remaining ties are resolved using the third criterion, etc. If a tie remains after all the criteria are used, the default sort order is used as the tiebreaker.
