Format Panel for Grid Visualizations

You can format a grid visualization, to determine whether to show banding in rows in the grid, whether to merge row and column headers, etc.

Access

  1. Open an existing dossier that contains the grid visualization you want to format.
  2. Select the grid visualization in the dossier.
  3. In the left toolbar, click Format.

Fields

  • Select the area of the visualization you want to format from the first drop-down.

General Settings

The following general formatting options are available to format data cells, columns, and rows in the grid visualization:

Enable Banding: Select this checkbox to apply alternating colors to rows in the grid.

Enable Outline: Select this checkbox to enable outline mode.

All Grid Fonts: Select font formatting options for all text in the grid.

Note: You can also format the columns, rows, or cell values separately, using the Format Panel for Grid Visualizations. If you change the font using the All Grid fonts options, the separate column, row, and value formatting is overwritten.

Padding: Select S, M, or L to display a small, medium, or large amount of padding to cells in the grid.

Columns

Auto Fit to Window: Select this option to expand the columns to fit the available space in the grid container. This is the default option.

Auto Fit to Contents: Select this option to size the grid columns to fit the data within the column.

Fixed: Select this option to display columns using a fixed width. Next, select the column to adjust and enter the width of the column in inches. Select All Columns to adjust all columns to the same width.

Rows

Fit to Contents: Select this option to size the height of the rows to fit the data. This is the default option.

Fixed: Select this option to display rows using a fixed height. Next, type the row height in inches.

More Options: Click to define additional formatting options, such as showing, merging, and locking the row or column headers, how to display the attribute form names, and determine how null and zero metric values are hidden.

Title and Container

The following options are available to format the title, background, and borders in a visualization:

Title

Show titlebar: Select the checkbox to display the visualization's title.

Font: Select font formatting options.

Container

Fill Color: Select the background color of the visualization from the palette.

Outer Border: Select the style and color of the visualization's borders from the drop-down lists.

Column Headers

The Column Headers options are available to format the column headers in the grid visualization:

Font: Select font formatting options.

Fill Color: Select the background color from the palette.

Horizontal Lines: Select the style and color of the horizontal borders.

Vertical Lines: Select style and color of the vertical borders.

Alignment: Select the vertical and horizontal alignment options for the text.

Wrap Text: Select this checkbox to wrap text to the next line.

Same as Column Headers: Select this checkbox to assign the same formatting to subtotals as totals. Deselect this checkbox to select separate formatting options for subtotals.

Row Headers

The Row Headers options are available to format the row headers in the grid visualization.

Font: Select font formatting options.

Fill Color: Select the background color from the palette.

Horizontal Lines: Select the style and color of the horizontal borders.

Vertical Lines: Select the style and color of the vertical borders.

Alignment: Select the vertical and horizontal alignment options for the text.

Wrap Text: Select the checkbox to wrap text to the next line.

Same as Row Headers: Select this checkbox to assign the same formatting to subtotals as totals. Deselect this checkbox to select separate formatting options for subtotals.

Values

The Values options are available to format the data cells in the grid visualization:

Font: Select font formatting options.

Fill Color: Select the background color from the palette.

Horizontal Lines: Select the style and color of the horizontal borders.

Vertical : Select the style and color of the vertical borders.

Alignment: Select the vertical and horizontal alignment options for the text.

Wrap Text: Select the checkbox to wrap text to the next line.
