Sorting hierarchy reports
When you sort a report that contains hierarchical attributes, the structure of the hierarchy remains intact. Every element retains its parent in the hierarchy tree. Each level of the hierarchy is sorted separately from other levels.
-
Hover over a row or column header and select the corresponding drop-down arrow.
-
Select Sort Ascending or Sort Descending to sort the hierarchy in ascending or descending order.
-
Select Advanced Sort to open the Advanced Sort Dialog. Use this dialog to sort on multiple hierarchical attributes and metrics or sort on attribute forms (that is, ID, Description, etc.).
-
Right-click an element and select Custom Sort to apply custom sorting.
If you are using an MDX database, the default sort order is the one used by the database. To change the sort order for a branch, click the Sort by drop-down and select the branch name that is followed by (Source Order) (for example, Sales Territory (Source Order)).
-
To rearrange elements, click on the element to rearrange and then click the element after which you want to place the selected element.
-
Click OK.
