Check For Existing Workitem Before Syncing

Agility Connect now has the option to check whether you have an existing work item in the target system before syncing the data, this option helps you to eliminate data duplication. With Agility Connect you can configure specific fields like title or description and perform checks as part of the additional mapping configuration for existing work items in the target system before you sync the data.

The Check for existing workitem before syncing option is bidirectional if there is mapping between Agility and the other application. Few important points to note:

• Ensure first Update from the system is skipped. Any subsequent update will go as an update and duplication will be avoided.
• To avoid loss of data for the first update itself, we recommend you to create a custom field and update that field.
• You can use options like AND or OR to narrow down your search for workitems.

Consider this example, you want to sync workitem from Jira with Agility Connect. You configure Summary workitem in Jira with Name workitem in Agility Connect . If you change the title of Summary to Summary new, then during sync Agility looks for Summary new and does not find that workitem, and updates the workitem which results in data duplication.
