Creating dynamic links in a Grid Visualization

You can create dynamic links to use in a grid visualization. Dynamic links appear in your dataset as a type of derived attribute.

  1. There are two methods for creating dynamic links.

To create dynamic links for future use, right-click the attribute in the Datasets panel that you want to use and choose Create Links.

    or

To create dynamic links for immediate use, right-click the attribute in the Editor panel that you want to use and choose Create Links.

    The Link Editor dialog opens.

  2. In the top field, enter the text and/or attribute forms you want to appear in the grid. To modify an attribute form, change the value after the @ sign. As you type, you can select matching attributes and forms from a drop-down list.

  3. In the bottom field, enter the text and/or attribute forms to use in the destination URL.

Your company has a website with pages for each region. The link you enter as the destination URL can access the specific page for each region. To do this, include the Region attribute ID form, as in http://www.example.com/{Region@ID}.htm. Enter dynamic text within braces .

  4. If necessary, click Validate for each field to verify its syntax.

  5. Click Save to add the dynamic link derived attribute to the dataset. The new attribute is renamed AttributeName (Link).
