Edit dossier properties
Use the Dossier Properties dialog to set the refresh rate in presentation mode, join behavior, data combination settings, or loading of chapters on demand.
Access
To access the Dossier Properties dialog:
- Open a dossier.
- Choose File > Dossier Properties.
Fields
Refresh: Data in a dossier does not automatically refresh in presentation mode, by default. You can specify the frequency in which data from direct access datasets refreshes automatically in presentation mode. A Refresh button is also available in presentation mode.
Join Behavior: Allow joins across datasets based on unrelated common attributes.
Data Combination
- Inherit Value: Inherit relations for joining attributes from project-level settings.
- Use Maximum: Use maximum relations to join attributes and get complete data combinations (that is, higher memory usage). The Multiple Cube Engine (MCE) takes grids containing metrics/attributes from different datasets and joins them with different rules. This generates relations on the fly to retrieve complete combinations of attributes, including nulls, at the cost of high memory usage.
- Use Minimum: Use minimum relations to join attributes using mostly binary relations (that is, faster, less memory usage). MCE generates less-complete combinations with fewer attribute relations, resulting in better performance.
Execution Mode: Data in a dossier is automatically loaded by default, across all chapters, when you open a dossier. Select Load chapters on demand to load chapters only when they are selected. Enabling this option reduces load time when opening dossiers that contain a large amount of data.
