Frequently Asked Questions
This page addresses common questions about Shared Devices.
Question: Are the Shared Devices shared with only my organization, or other organizations?
Shared Devices are accessible by other organizations as well, functioning as a common pool of devices allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis. Once a session is completed, the shared device undergoes an advanced cleanup process and is returned to the pool only after we've performed a full sanity cleanup.
Question: If I am using a shared device session, can others view this?
When a shared device is in use, it will appear as “In-Use” to other users. No one else can see any activity being performed by the current user or interact with the device until the session ends, and the device has gone through a thorough cleanup process.
Question: When does a cleanup of a device occur on a shared device instance?
As soon as a shared device session is released, we start the cleanup process, for iOS we perform a restore and backup (puts the iOS device back to a state that is known to be a completely clean slate) and for Android we perform a series of steps that includes various activities such as clearing any media folder, removing installed applications & certificates, and more.
If for any reason the connection to the device is lost (E.g., caused by network interruption, or a product related issue) and it causes the session to end, we still undergo a thorough cleanup process.

, and .ipa
. However, applications from the App Store, TestFlight, or any other solutions like an MDM Server are not supported.
