Creating and editing a visualization-based filter for a chapter

You can create visualization-based filters for a chapter. The visualization that the filter is based on does not appear on your dossier. However, you can access it when you edit the filter.

To create and edit a visualization-based filter

  1. Open the dossier you want to modify.
  2. In the Contents panel, select the chapter to filter.
  3. In the Filter panel, click More at the top and choose Add Visualization Filter.
  4. Select the type of visualization you want to build as a filter from the Visualization Gallery.
  5. Drag attributes and metrics from the Datasets panel, onto the Editor panel, to build the visualization.
  6. Click Done when you finish building the visualization.
  7. The new visualization-based filter appears on the Filter panel and applies to the entire chapter.
  8. To rename the filter, click More next to the filter and choose Rename. Enter the new name and press the Enter key.
  9. To include or exclude the data selected in the filter, click More next to the filter.
  10. Choose Include to display data only for the selected values. This is the default setting.
  11. To edit the visualization used for filtering, click More next to the filter and choose Edit. Click Done when you finish.
  12. You can select data points on which to filter. Click Click here to start selection below the filter.
  13. Click on the elements in the visualization to select the corresponding data. Press and hold the Ctrl key to select multiple elements.
  14. Click Done.
