Importing data from a file

You can import data from a file, such as an Excel spreadsheet or text file, to create a dossier.

Your data must be in one of the following file types:

• .xlsx
• .xls
• .txt
• .csv
• .tsv
• .prn
• .json
• .sas7bat

Password-protected or compressed files (such as .zip files) cannot be used to upload data.

To import data from a file

1. Open a new or existing dossier.

2. To import data into a new dataset, click Add Data and choose New Data.

   or

   To add data to a dataset, click the drop-down arrow next to the dataset name in the Datasets panel and choose Edit Dataset. The Preview Dialog opens. Click Add a New Table.

   The Data Sources dialog opens.

3. Click File From Disk to import data from a file on your computer. The Upload Your Files dialog opens.

4. Click Choose files. In the Choose File to Upload dialog, navigate to and select a file to import, and click Open. You can select multiple files.

5. Click Prepare Data to preview, modify, and specify import options for your data.

6. Click Finish. The data is imported into a new dataset or updated in an existing dataset.
