Creating KPI visualization

Follow these steps to create a KPI visualization in a dossier:

  1. Open a new or existing dossier.

  2. Click Insert Visualization to add a new, blank visualization to the dossier.

  3. In the Visualization Gallery, click KPI to create a KPI visualization.

  4. Drag objects from the Datasets panel to the Editor panel to add the corresponding data to the visualization. You can also drag objects from the Datasets panel directly onto the visualization.

Note: To view data requirements for a KPI visualization, hover your cursor over the KPI icon in the Visualization Gallery.

  5. Place the metric you want to track in the Metric area. The metric name appears in your visualization, along with the corresponding value, which is known as the primary KPI. The primary KPI displays aggregate values if the Trend area is empty.

  6. Place an attribute in the Trend area to view the metric by a specific attribute element. A second numeric value appears. It reflects the value of the metric in the previous attribute element, such as a previous month. In addition, a colored badge appears with the percent of increase or decrease. Increases appear in green with the plus sign. Decreases appear in red with a negative sign. You can customize these colors on the Format panel. The graph at the bottom allows you to visualize trends across attribute elements.

  7. Place an attribute in the Break By area to break your visualization into separate KPI cards for each attribute element.

Note: Place the Location attribute into the Break By area to create separate KPI cards for each retail location.

  8. Open the Format panel and select General Settings from the first drop-down to display formatting options, specific to KPI visualizations.

  9. Make the necessary changes on the Format panel.

  10. Click Save.
