App Catalog Organization

The App Catalog organizes apps on tabs to make it easy for your mobile users to find what they need when they need it. Users simply tap tabs on the navigation bar to switch between pages. At any time, a user can tap an app to view details about the app including a description, screenshots, reviews, etc.

• Popular: Lists the most popular apps within your organization, based on number of downloads. With iOS and Android App Catalogs, the Popular page also displays a scrollable list of featured apps. When deciding which apps to install first, featured apps give users a great place to start. For instructions on featuring apps in a catalog, see Select Featured Apps for the App Catalog.
• Categories: Sorts apps by category. For example, users can list all apps related to the “Human Resources” category. Organizations are configured with a number of default categories, but you can modify these and add your own. For instructions, see Managing Categories.
• Search: Allows users to find specific apps by name.
• Updates: Lists any available updates of apps that the user already installed on the device. When there are updates, a badge identifying the number of updates appears on the Updates tab. For more information on updating applications, see Managing Application Updates.
• All: Lists all the apps available to the user. An app is available to a user if it is:
  • Enabled (disabled apps do not display in any users' catalog).
  • Appropriate for device operating system and form factor. Android apps, for example, are not listed in an App Catalog running on an iOS device. Also, if an app is built for a minimum OS version and the device does not meet that requirement, the app is not listed.
  • Assigned to a group to which the user is a member. Groups are the most powerful mechanism for controlling user access to apps. For more information, see Managing Groups.

App Details

On any of the app list pages, users can tap an app to display its details. From there, they can read a detailed description, view associated screenshots or media files, and read and write app reviews. Users can also tap on an app's call-to-action button to install, update, link to a public app store, open, or run the app. The button varies depending on the device platform and the type and status of the application; see Buttons.

App Download Count

App Details includes a count of the number of times each app has been downloaded. This number is not updated immediately after downloading an app, but is refreshed periodically.

Buttons

An app's call-to action button appears next to the app's icon on the app listing pages of the App Catalog, and the app's App Detail page. Buttons vary depending on the device platform (iOS, Android, or Windows), the type of app (native, web app, public app, iOS config), and status of the app (not installed, installed, update available).

The following table describes the buttons that can appear in the App Catalog.

Button	Platform	Description
INSTALL	All	Appears for native apps and iOS config files that have not yet been installed on the device. Tapping this button downloads and installs the app. After the app is installed, the button changes to the Cloud Download button for iOS apps or an OPEN button for all other apps. iOS or Android Hybrid apps created in the Admin Portal are like any other native app and will be listed with an INSTALL button until they are installed.
UPDATE	All	Appears for native apps that are installed on the device and have an update available. Tapping this button downloads and installs the update. Apps that have an UPDATE button are also listed on the Updates page of the catalog.
OPEN	Android, Windows	Appears for native apps that are installed on the device. Tapping this button opens the app. If a user installs an app but later deletes it, the OPEN button will no longer appear for the app; instead, the INSTALL button will reappear.
	iOS	Appears for native apps that were previously installed on the device. Tapping this button downloads and installs the app again. Due to restrictions of the iOS operating system, it is not always possible to know if an application is still installed. This is why the iOS App Catalog displays the Cloud Download button for installed apps rather than the OPEN button. When an update of the application is available, this button changes to the UPDATE button so the user can install the latest available version.
RUN	All	Appears for web apps. With web apps, there is nothing to download and install. Tapping this button opens the web app in a browser.
APP STORE	iOS	Appears for public apps and takes the user directly to the app's page in the Apple App Store. From the app store, the user can download the app to the device.
STORE	Android, Windows	Appears for public apps and takes the user directly to the app's page in Google Play (for Android public apps) or Microsoft Store (for Windows apps). From the app store, the user can download the app to the device.
