Who Associates Closed Work Items with OKRs​

Closed work item association supports retrospective analysis:

  • Product Owners review completed work items associated with key results to assess whether finished features delivered expected outcomes.
  • Portfolio Managers analyze closed work patterns across objectives to understand delivery velocity and strategic execution effectiveness.
  • Team Leads examine completed work against key results during retrospectives to learn what work types most effectively advance goals.
  • Program Managers view closed work item contributions to understand actual versus planned delivery against strategic objectives.

Permission Requirement​

To associate closed work items: Users need Agility Pro or Premium license with view access to closed work items. Only publicly visible objectives and key results can be associated.

To view closed work item associations: All users with access to the objective or key result can see associated closed work items.

To remove closed work item associations: Users with edit access to the objective or key result can remove associations.

Associate Closed Work Items​

  1. Log in to Agility, click the hamburger menu > OKRs.
  2. Select the Objective or Key Result to associate the closed asset.
  3. Click Show More in the Associated Assets section and click +Add.

By default, only open assets display in search results.

  1. Click the Filter panel next to the Search bar.
  2. Select the Include closed assets option.

Search results include both open and closed assets. Closed assets are distinguished by a strike-through.

  1. Search for the closed work item using ID or Title.
  2. From the results, identify the work item and click +Add.

The closed work item is associated with the selected objective or key result.

Troubleshooting​

Why can't I find my closed work item in the search?

You must enable the Include closed assets filter option before searching. By default, only open work items appear in search results. Click the Filter panel and select Include closed assets to see completed work items.

Why can't I associate a closed work item with an objective?

The objective must be set to Publicly Readable or Publicly Editable. Private objectives cannot have work items associated. Contact the objective owner to change the visibility setting.

Can I associate closed work items from archived sessions?

Yes, if you have access to the archived work items. Use the search function with Include closed assets enabled to find work items from any session or time period.

What value does associating closed work items provide?

Associating completed work helps with retrospective analysis, showing what work actually contributed to goal achievement. This data supports future planning by revealing which work types most effectively advance strategic objectives.
