Release Concepts

Before you start running releases, it helps to understand how they work. This section covers the release lifecycle, the states a release moves through, how to monitor progress, and how to spot risks early.

Every release begins as a planned copy of a template. Once started, it moves through states like In Progress, Failed, or Failing, and ends as Completed or Aborted. If you need to restart a phase, the release enters a Paused state so you can update dates or variables before continuing. Release keeps a full history of every action taken during a release, with timestamps, so you can review what happened and when. The risk-aware view highlights potential problems before they affect your delivery.
