Getting Started by Role
Digital.ai Release is a release orchestration platform for software delivery teams. It models release processes as a sequence of tasks grouped into phases, coordinates manual and automated work across teams and tools, and provides reporting and auditing on delivery and performance.
What Is Digital.ai Release?
Release models your software delivery process as a sequence of phases and tasks. Teams across development, QA, operations, and release management work from a shared view of every release such as what is done, what is in progress, and what is blocked.
Key capabilities include:

Getting Started by Role
Select the guide that matches your role and responsibilities.
Release Manager
You plan, coordinate, and drive releases to completion. You work with release templates, monitor task progress, manage teams, and report release status to stakeholders.
Release Engineer
You design and maintain the reusable release templates that Release Managers use to create and run release pipelines. You define phases, tasks, variables, team organization, and delivery patterns.
DevOps / Pipeline Engineer
You connect Release to your CI/CD toolchain. You configure integrations with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Argo CD, Kubernetes, and other tools, set up triggers and webhooks, and deploy Release Runners for container-based task execution.
System Administrator
You install, upgrade, and maintain the Release server infrastructure. You configure databases, clustering, high availability, authentication, server security hardening, and security integrations such as HashiCorp Vault, CyberArk Conjur, and OPA.
Release Administrator
You manage the Release application after it is installed. You create users, define roles and permissions, configure system settings, manage plugins, manage the license, and configure the release archive.
Plugin / Integration Developer
You are responsible for integrating Release with other tools and services in your organization. You call the REST API from external systems, automate Release configuration using the command line tool and GitOps techniques, and integrate Release with AI agents via the MCP Server. For custom integrations, you build plugins using the Python SDK, Go SDK, or JVM (Jython) SDK.
Engineering Manager
You use Release dashboards and reports to monitor delivery health, track portfolio status, and communicate performance to stakeholders.
