Digital.ai Testing 26.9 Release Notes
Test Orchestrator
Test Orchestrator is a new client-side integration that adds new capabilities to make test execution more resilient, configurable, and easier to manage.
What it means
- YAML configuration — Configure test capabilities through a simple YAML file.
- Automatic retry — Failed tests can be retried automatically based on the configured retry policy.
- Client-server status synchronization — Test execution status is synchronized between your testing environment and Digital.ai reports, for more accurate run tracking.
- Critical tests — Mark important tests as critical so failures can be identified early during execution.
- Flakiness detection — Test Orchestrator tracks execution history to identify tests with inconsistent pass/fail behavior.
With Test Orchestrator, your team spends less time managing and rerunning tests by hand. Your tests stay as they are. Available for Appium Server tests with JUnit and TestNG.
To get started, see the example project in GitHub.
Improved Video Reports
We’ve significantly improved video reports to make debugging test failures faster and easier. Jump straight to the failed step, filter to see only failures, or click any line in the device logs to instantly navigate to that exact moment in the video. With smoother playback and easier navigation, finding what went wrong is easier than ever.

iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max Support
In case you missed it, we added same-day support for iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in our last release, and that support continues in this release.
Validate functionality, accessibility, performance, and hardened applications on real iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max devices, across SaaS and On-Prem deployments.

Bug Fixes and Improvements
-
Mobile Studio
- Fold and unfold actions are now supported on foldable devices directly from Mobile Studio. Tested both states on dedicated and shared devices.
- Test Editor (low-code) now supports iosPredicate as a locator strategy, providing a more flexible way to identify elements in iOS applications.
- The "Find By" section in the Element Details panel, inside Object Spy, now shows all available locator strategies and their values without scrolling. This makes it faster to compare and copy locators.
- Videos recorded with the Mobile Studio Screen Capture Utility now preserve the device's original colors, and light gray no longer appears as white. This makes recordings more reliable for UX and visual testing.
- Fixed an issue where application versions with multiple components were truncated, essentially not displayed in full.
-
Android Support
- Fixed an issue on Android that caused socket hangup errors when calling the
driver.getLocation()method. - Fixed an issue on Android that prevented the
driver.setLocation()method from setting the location correctly. - Fixed an issue with instrumented dumps that prevented UI hierarchy dumps from being retrieved correctly for Jetpack Compose screens on Android 15 and later.
- Fixed an issue with
sendTextcommands that prevented the{ESC}key from executing correctly. - Fixed an issue with the
default.android.noninstrumented.webviewproperty that caused web dump retrieval to fail.
- Fixed an issue on Android that caused socket hangup errors when calling the
-
iOS Support
- Added support for iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max simulators.
-
Appium Server
- Appium Server 3.8.0 is now available in both Docker Swarm and Local Appium modes.
- Clearer status for interrupted tests - If a test is interrupted before completion due to a client crash or infrastructure issue, it is now marked as Error with the cause "Device Session ended before test completion", replacing the previous Incomplete status, making it easier to see which tests failed to finish and why.
- Fixed an issue where screen recording on iOS simulators could fail to start. Recordings now starts reliably.
- Fixed an issue where repeated Android Auto (DHU) crashes could eventually block new Android Auto sessions from starting. New sessions now start reliably after a crash.
- An automotive screen video is now created and attached to the test report even if the script doesn't explicitly stop the automotive recording.
-
Cross-Browser Testing
- Added a clear warning for Playwright module syntax mismatches. If a Playwright project mixes ESM and CommonJS syntax, the Execution Service now detects the mismatch in the
playwright.configfile and displays a clear warning. - The Reports page now shows "Linux" in the OS column for Playwright and Cypress tests run through the Execution Service.
- Added a clear warning for Playwright module syntax mismatches. If a Playwright project mixes ESM and CommonJS syntax, the Execution Service now detects the mismatch in the
-
Analytics
- Added period trends to Tests Overview KPIs to help track whether test execution is improving or declining.
- Added more filters to the Usage and Devices pages, which now includes: Device Fleet Status, Session Type, and License Type, making it easier to analyze specific data.
- Improved handling of long labels to keep charts readable while still allowing users to view or copy the full label.
-
Root Cause Analysis
- RCA now supports Appium Grid, extending support beyond Appium Server.
Important Notes
Deprecation Notices
-
Intel-based Mac support is being phased out for the following products and features:
- SeeTest Automation
- [LEGACY] Appium Studio for IntelliJ
- Network Tunneling Client
Please note that Intel-based Mac support (Mac x86 installers) for these components will reach End of Life on version 27.1 (January 2027) - no further Intel-compatible builds will be produced after that release. Customers running these components on Intel Macs should plan to migrate to Apple Silicon (M-series) hardware ahead of this date to avoid service interruption.
-
Local Disk Installation – Starting in version 26.9, the Install from local disk option for the Install command in SeeTest Grid is deprecated and will be discontinued at the end of September 2026. Migrate any test scripts that use local disk paths to install applications through the Application Manager, a URL, or the cloud using a unique application name instead. For migration assistance, contact the Technical Support team.
-
OCR-based Tests – By the end of 2026, OCR-based text recognition in Appium Grid and SeeTest Client workflows will be deprecated. Plan future OCR-based automation using the image recognition capabilities available through Appium Image Recognition on Appium Server.
-
External Tools Integration (HP ALM & Jira) – Starting in version 26.9, the legacy Connecting to External Tools integration in SeeTestAutomation - connecting to HP Application Lifecycle Management (HP ALM) as a Test Management Tool and Atlassian Jira as a Bug Management Tool from the SeeTest header - will be deprecated. Customers relying on this integration should contact the support team to discuss migration options.
Cloud Management and On-Premises Deployment
Release notes related to Cloud Management and On-Premises Deployment are published in On-Premises Cloud Management Release Notes.
This separation improves clarity for On-Premises cloud administrators and includes installation, platform support, and infrastructure-related changes.
