Configure Terminology and Localization Options
This article explains how to configure the Terminology and Localization options in Agility.
Overview
Digital.ai Agility is installed with a default terminology set that works for most organizations. If these terms don't work for you, you can change them to better fit within your practice. You can customize asset labels and configure how dates and other localized content display to match your organization's needs.
Terminology Configuration
The Terminology page in Agility allows you to customize the labels used for work item types (assets) throughout the system. Because terminology varies across different methodologies (Scrum, Extreme Programming (XP), Dynamic Systems Development Method (DSDM), etc.), you can configure Agility to use the terms specific to your organization.
What you can customize:
- Asset labels: Change the singular and plural names for work item types (Story, Defect, Task, Epic, etc.).
- Navigation labels: Update labels that appear in menus and buttons throughout the interface.
- Timebox terminology: Customize terms like Iteration, Sprint, or Release to match your practice.
Example use cases:
- Rename "Story" to "User Story" or "Requirement"
- Change "Sprint" to "Iteration" or "Cycle"
- Customize "Epic" to "Initiative" or "Theme"
Configure Terminology
To customize terminology:
- Navigate to Admin > Configuration > Terminology.
- Update the labels for each asset type as needed.
- Click Save to apply your changes.
Prerequisites: Your Admin Privileges role must be set to System Administrator.
For detailed step-by-step instructions, see Changing or Renaming Labels for Assets.
Configure Localization Options
Agility supports localization for date formats and other locale-specific displays based on your browser's language settings.
What is localized:
- Date formats: Display formats (dd/mm/yyyy vs. mm/dd/yyyy) are determined by your browser's language setting.
- Date field validation: Custom date fields validate and format based on your browser's language settings.
- Time zones: Configure your preferred time zone in your member profile settings.
Change Date Display Format
Date formats in Agility are driven by your browser's language settings. To change how dates display:
- Update your browser's language setting to your preferred language.
- Restart your browser for the changes to take effect.
- Dates in Agility automatically display in the format for your selected language.
For more information, see How Do I Change the Date Display Format.
Configure Time Zone
To set your preferred time zone:
- Click your profile icon > My Account.
- Select the Preferences tab.
- Choose your time zone from the dropdown.
- Click Save.
