Custom Reporting and Data Mart

The Digital.ai Agility core application contains reports and visualizations that give you visibility into your product backlog and development efforts. Built-in reporting options, such as Dashboards and Analytic Grids, are available in the application, and the options you see depend on your Agility edition. If your reporting needs exceed the built-in facilities, Agility offers two additional options:

  • Custom Reporting: Build, manage, and export your own reports and dashboards from within Agility.
  • Data Mart: Query Agility data directly with the relational database management system (RDBMS) reporting tool of your choice.

Custom Reporting​

Custom Reporting lets you build reports on Agility data, group them into dashboards, share them with other members, and export the results. To get started, see the following topics:

Data Mart​

The Data Mart is a denormalized, reporting-optimized representation of your highly normalized Agility operational database. An extract-transform-load (ETL) program, also referred to as the data mart load utility, populates the Data Mart from the operational system on a scheduled cadence. Because the Data Mart is a standard relational database, you can query it and build reports with the RDBMS reporting tool of your choice, using both built-in attributes, such as Estimate, Effort, and Owner, and the custom attributes configured in your Agility instance.

Data Available in the Data Mart​

The Data Mart organizes Agility data into fact, dimension, and bridge tables:

  • Fact tables hold the measurements, such as estimates, effort, and workitem counts, along with keys to the related dimensions. See Fact Tables Reference.
  • Dimension tables hold the descriptive attributes that classify and filter those measurements, such as project, team, member, iteration, and workitem attributes. See Dimension Tables Reference.
  • Bridge tables resolve many-to-many relationships, such as workitem owners and member groups. See Bridge Tables.

As of version 26.2, the Data Mart also includes the following data:

  • Release Planning 2.0 data: Release objects, including metadata such as name, date, and status, along with the work items associated with each release. Use releases as a dimension or a filter to analyze release performance.
  • Objectives and Key Results (OKR) data: Objectives, Key Results, and their associated work items. Agility loads this data into dimension and bridge tables, so you can build custom reports and dashboards on OKR data.
