Planning Room Capabilities in Rooms 2
Rooms 2 introduces Planning Room capabilities that bring portfolio-level strategic planning into the modern Rooms 2 interface. Planning Rooms in Rooms 2 enable strategic planning teams to collaborate more effectively on plans, coordinate efforts across organizational levels, and track progress with improved visibility and flexibility.
Planning Rooms in Rooms 2 provide two portfolio planning views:
- Portfolio Tree: Hierarchical visualization with multi-level nesting, advanced filtering, and drag-and-drop reparenting
- Portfolio Kanban: Workflow-based kanban board for managing portfolio items through status columns
Access for Planning Room Members: If you are a member of a Planning Room, it will be visible in your Rooms list (similar to Team Rooms). Non-members can access Planning Rooms by navigating to All Planning Rooms.

Planning Rooms serve as strategic planning environments in Digital.ai Agility, allowing teams to focus on planning activities and provide wide visibility across the organization. Rooms 2 brings Planning Rooms into the modern Rooms 2 interface with Portfolio Tree and Portfolio Kanban views for portfolio planning.

- Modern, accessible interface: Consistent interface with Rooms 2 TeamRooms for a familiar experience with improved performance
- Configuration inheritance: Honors all existing Planning Room settings (title, planning level, schedule, program, strategic theme, membership)
- Focused planning experience: Custom view creation hidden to maintain focus on the two core portfolio views
- Two powerful views: Portfolio Tree for hierarchical management and Portfolio Kanban for workflow-based planning

- Portfolio Managers: View portfolio structure and dependencies, and create strategic planning environments for portfolio-level decision making
- Program Managers: Coordinate planning activities across multiple teams and projects; manage large-scale work items with multiple layers of hierarchy
- Product Owners: Collaborate on product roadmaps and feature prioritization; understand how features and epics align with portfolio initiatives

Enable Planning Room Capabilities in Rooms 2
To use Planning Rooms in Rooms 2, enable the feature in your Agility Preferences:
- Click the profile icon on the header and select Agility Preferences
- In the Agility Preferences window, click the Experimental Features tab
- Click the toggle next to Portfolio Planning in Rooms 2.0
- The setting saves automatically

Planning Rooms in Rooms 2 are now active in your account.
Experimental Feature: Portfolio Planning in Rooms 2.0 is currently available as an experimental feature. Each user must individually enable this feature in their preferences to access Planning Rooms and Portfolio Tree capabilities in Rooms 2.
Access Planning Room in Rooms 2
Once the feature is enabled, access Planning Rooms in Rooms 2:
For Planning Room Members:
- Click the hamburger menu
> Rooms
- Your Planning Rooms appear in the Rooms list (similar to Team Rooms)
- Click on a Planning Room name to view it
- Click the Try Rooms 2 button on the right side of the Planning Room row
- The Planning Room opens in Rooms 2 with Portfolio Tree and Portfolio Kanban views available
For Non-Members or to Browse All Planning Rooms:
- Click the hamburger menu
> Rooms > All Planning Rooms
- Browse the list of available Planning Rooms
- Click on a Planning Room name to select it
- Click the Try Rooms 2 button on the right side of the selected Planning Room
- The Planning Room opens in Rooms 2 with Portfolio Tree and Portfolio Kanban views available
Result: The Planning Room opens in Rooms 2 with Portfolio Tree and Portfolio Kanban views based on your Planning Room configuration (title, planning level, schedule, program, strategic theme, and membership).
Portfolio Planning Views
Planning Rooms in Rooms 2 provide two complementary views for managing your portfolio:
Portfolio Tree View
The Portfolio Tree view provides hierarchical visualization of portfolio items with:
- Multi-level nesting with unlimited depth
- Advanced search and filtering capabilities
- Drag-and-drop reparenting and reordering
- Epic dependency management
- Sage AI assistant integration
Best for: Understanding portfolio structure, managing hierarchies, viewing parent-child relationships, and tracking dependencies.
Portfolio Kanban View
The Portfolio Kanban view provides workflow-based management with:
- Visual card-based interface
- Status column workflow
- Drag-and-drop status updates
- Child item management
- Attachment and comment collaboration
- Column header metrics
Best for: Tracking workflow progress, identifying bottlenecks, managing status changes, and visualizing portfolio distribution.
Use both views together for comprehensive portfolio management: Portfolio Tree for structural organization and Portfolio Kanban for workflow tracking.

Planning Rooms in Rooms 2 automatically inherit and respect your existing Agility Planning Room configuration:
- Title — Your Planning Room name displays consistently
- Planning Level — Scope and hierarchy settings are preserved
- Schedule — Time-based focus remains configured as defined
- Program — Program-specific filtering continues to work
- Strategic Theme — Strategic alignment settings are honored
- Membership — Room members and permissions carry over
This configuration inheritance ensures a smooth transition from traditional Planning Rooms to Rooms 2 without requiring reconfiguration.
Direct Access and Bookmarking
Planning Rooms support direct URL access, making it easy to:
- Create bookmarks for frequently-accessed planning rooms
- Share links with team members who need access to specific planning environments
- Provide focused access to users who only need the Planning Room without full application navigation
To use direct access:
- Open the Planning Room you want to bookmark
- Copy the URL from your browser's address bar
- Save as a bookmark or share with team members
