Edit an OKR
You can edit, close, or delete Objectives and Key Results (OKR) based on changes in priorities, completion status, or other relevant factors. This topic covers all three actions and explains when to use each one.
Edit an OKR
Edit objectives and key results when priorities change or you need to adjust goals.
Permissions
Objective owners, users with shared access, and system administrators have different levels of access for editing, closing, and deleting objectives. For detailed permission information, see User Roles and Permissions.
Edit an Objective
- Log in to Agility, click the hamburger menu > OKRs.
- In the Objectives and Key Results page select the OKR you want to edit.
- Make the necessary changes and click the Save next to the field.
You can edit OKR title, session, description and also edit the fields associated with Key Results such as summary, description, progress, and commitment.
Configure Field Placement
Customize which fields display above the Show More button in the objective and key result details drawers. This lets you prioritize the most important information for your workflow.
Configure Objective Field Placement
Available Fields for Configuration:
- Session — The session associated with the objective
- Description — The objective description with rich text formatting
- Owner — The user who created the objective
- Shared Access With — Users who have shared editing access
- Cascaded From — Parent objective or key result (if cascaded)

How to Configure Objective Fields:
- Click the hamburger menu > OKRs.
- Select any objective to open the details drawer.
- Click the Details tab.
- Click the More menu (three vertical dots) in the top-right corner of the drawer.
- Select Configure Fields from the menu.
- In the Configure Fields Placement dialog, select the fields you want visible above the Show More button:
- Check the box next to each field you want to display
- Uncheck the box to hide the field below the Show More button
- Click Save to apply your changes.
Result: Checked fields appear above the Show More button in the objective details drawer. Unchecked fields are collapsed below the Show More button.
Configure Key Result Field Placement
Available Fields for Configuration:
- OkrObjective — The parent objective linked to this key result
- Type — The key result type
- CurrentValue — The current progress value
- InitialValue — The starting value
- CriticalValue — The minimum acceptable value
- TargetValue — The goal value
- Unit — The measurement unit (for example, percentage, dollars, count)
- Commitment — The commitment level (for example, Committed, Aspirational)
- Description — The key result description with rich text formatting

How to Configure Key Result Fields:
- Click the hamburger menu > OKRs.
- Select an objective to open the details drawer.
- Click the Key Results tab.
- Select a key result to open its details.
- Click the More menu (three vertical dots) in the top-right corner of the drawer.
- Select Configure Fields from the menu.
- In the Configure Fields Placement dialog, select the fields you want visible above the Show More button:
- Check the box next to each field you want to display
- Uncheck the box to hide the field below the Show More button
- Click Save to apply your changes.
Result: Checked fields appear above the Show More button in the key result details drawer. Unchecked fields are collapsed below the Show More button.
Configure field placement based on your workflow:
- For objectives: Keep frequently edited fields like Shared Access With visible for easy collaboration
- For key results: Show critical tracking fields like CriticalValue and Unit for quick progress assessment
- Show Cascaded From if you work extensively with hierarchical OKRs
- Hide less frequently used fields to reduce visual clutter
Close an Objective
Closing an objective marks it as complete without deleting it from the system. Closed objectives remain accessible and can be viewed by enabling the Include Closed OKRs toggle on the OKRs page. Only the objective owner, users with shared access, and system administrators can close objectives.
When to Close an Objective:
- The objective has been achieved and all key results are complete.
- The objective's time period (session) has ended.
- You want to mark the objective as complete while keeping it for reference.
- You need to distinguish completed work from active work.
How to Close an Objective:
- Click the hamburger menu > OKRs.
- From the Objectives and Key Results page, select the objective you want to close.
- In the objective details drawer, click the More menu (three vertical dots in the top-right corner).
- Select Close from the menu.
Result: The objective is marked as closed. It no longer appears in the default OKR grid view but can be viewed by enabling the Include Closed OKRs toggle.
- Close: Marks the objective as complete; remains in the system and viewable with the Include Closed toggle. Use this for completed objectives you want to reference.
- Delete: Permanently removes the objective from Agility. Use with caution; cannot be undone.
Delete an OKR
Delete objectives with caution, as this permanently removes them from Agility. Only the objective owner and system administrators can delete objectives.
Follow these steps to delete an OKR:
- Click the hamburger menu > OKRs.
- From the Objectives and Key Results page select the OKR you want to delete.
- In the objective details drawer, click the More menu (three vertical dots in the top-right corner).
- From the menu, select Delete.
- A confirmation message stating Are you sure you want to delete the objective? appears.
- Click Delete.
The objective is deleted from Agility.
Delete a Key Result
You can delete a key result from within the objective details drawer.
- From the OKR list page, click on the objective to open the details drawer.
- Click the Key Results tab.
- Locate the key result you want to delete.
- Click the Delete icon next to the key result title.
- Click the Delete button to confirm the deletion.
The key result is removed from the objective.
